Suggesto-System “ A. V. I. C. S.”
I. GENERAL INFORMATION
The Author’s Audiо/Visual – Interactive/Communicative – Suggesto/system
“AVICS” is a complex programme for the many-sided development of personality,
involving ART - as the most positive humane factor in life - into a global training process.
Its supreme goal is to release “the reserve of human intellectual and creative capacities keeping a psycho-physiological balance”(Lozanov) in the process of education, and also -
to support the adaptability of men in the multilateral communicative surroundings of society.
It can be applied to various forms of communicative activities – such as module forms of education and foreign language courses, cultural undertakings, package tours, free-time activities, computer/hobby clubs and other events - for professional and social integration.
AVICS is based on the complex use of art and new technical means selected to support the interactive communication ; it conforms the positive traditions of psycho-linguistic teaching systems with some of the basic principles of Dr. Lozanov’s Suggestopedia/Reservopedia
(the “Golden Proportion” in life, nature and art, and the inborn need of Love and Freedom).
This subtle integration of didactic structures into a global suggestive-artistic presentation, represents the so called “mode of orchestrated globalization” in the communicative process.
Prof. Dr. Lozanov has also defined the term “Suggestive Orchestration” as a uniting factor
for the implementation of systematic artistic globality in didactics, to reveal human reserves.
The Sugesto-system has been tried out and successfully put into practice by its author, Mag. Angelina Karaslavova, a long time pupil, research assistant and sugesto-specialist, certified by Prof. Dr. Lozanov; a trained English senior teacher at the original Lozanov “Suggestology Research Institute” in Sofia/Bulgaria, and author of numerous experimental Suggestopedic English Textbooks. Later, after profound experience and practice in the field communicative foreign language methods, the Suggesto-system“AVICS” was initiated and put in practice as a multi-module form for intensive suggesto-teaching, based on the original author’s textbook-complex ”Victory I,II,III”.
The Suggesto-System “AVICS” includes teaching programs for personality development, various activities for professional re-orientation, socialization and adaptation in social life.
The complex AVICS-aims make the core activity subject of the “International Qualification Centre for Certified Suggesto-Training “ as a part of the Suggesto-AVICS-Society.
SuggestoSystem “AVICS” is a complex model for harmonious development. It makes use of Audio/Visual special technical aids to support some socio-psychological aspects of new Interactive/Communicative approaches, to integrate (“orchestrate”) them in the globality of positive Suggestopedia principles and ART ß for a harmonious pedagogical balance.
As the name shows, A. V. I. C. S. means :
1. AUDIO: a well-chosen set of musical recordings is used to create the necessary challenging atmosphere (“music is the greatest positive suggestion”); and special background music, songs,self-recordings and reproduction-for relaxation, psycho-balance,etc.
The presentation of each complex didactic unit is on a classical music background and the use of rhythm/melody techniques stimulate all levels of perceptions, and challenge better results.
2. VISUAL: a special selection of visual aids, films and teaching requisites, decorative design (didactic pictures and panels) support the global artistic presentation.
The stimulation of visual perceptions and creative drawing as а healing agent enable, in subtle ways, the achievement of aesthetic balance and harmony for the development of personality.
3. INTERACTIVE: a complex of interrelated model–textbooks of the included material , manifest the approach of “orchestrated globalization” interactively, to achieve the principle of the so called “hologram-duality” (each part reflects the whole) in a global-partial unity; in process are some ideas and projects for interactive computer assistance.
Interactivity starts with the inter-related layout of the material and its concepts; it is reflected in all program-schedules and follows the whole process of artistic/didactic complex, so that tutor and participants simultaneously appear to be both subjects and objects at the same time.
4. COMMUNICATIVE: a universal teaching mode for inter-personal activity, both in the process forms and the means of accomplishing, for the development of personality, and for the easy social integration and adaptability of man in the many-sided life surroundings.
5. SUGGESTO-system: a balanced, suggestive-systematic approach - to release the potential reserves of personality, synchronizing the traditional didactic laws with the humane Suggestopedic principles ( Golden proportion, Love and Freedom), for positive interpersonal communications and mental activity , on all levels of complexity and structural globalization.
Detailed elaborations on the delicate suggestive techniques implemented in the harmonious systematic complex, as well as the participation in basic demonstrations and precise work-shops, support the fruitful execution of the “orchestrated globalization” in the AVICS system.
Suggesto-System AVICS stimulates,challenges and harmoniously develops the personality - self-confidence, interests, perceptions, intellectual activity, memory, motivation, creativity.
It can be applied in various fields – education, sport, tourism, business, management, or club free-time activities for humane relations, united by the universal use of ART - to help man create a positive personal image for social adaptability in our complex contemporary life.
The AVICS-system has been successfully experimented in the early nineties by its author, at Inter-AVICS-Consult/Technika, Sofia, and applied to practice in foreign language courses consisting of three successive inter-related MODULES of intensive activities in small groups
and 3 supporting LINKS for activation and further motivated transition to self-development.
A Set of newly up-dated, interrelated complex English materials, including the three Basic Textbooks (Victory I,II,III), two supporting Hand-books (I’ll Remember and I Won’t Forget), artistic audio and visual aids, and interactive training sets, as well as a Reader (consisting of motivating ,original literary works) for further levels of self-study/club activities , is available.
A Summary Teachers’ Reference-book (with practical explanations and elaborations of the basic cycle-stages) helps the teachers - who are key-figures in the complex unity of the artistic interactive process - keep to the AVICS-program as a guarantee for successful results.
The suggested “Victory”I,II,III,-trilogy serves as a basis for further, new “AVICS” suggesto- elaborations and is a standpoint for further personality development projects.
