Who Is Who and What Is What - in Suggetosystem AVICS - to all English speaking friends of Suggestop

My name is Angelina Karaslavova, a long-years student and collaborator of Dr. Lozanov's and certified Suggestopedia-specialist, author of numerous suggestopedical textbooks and publications.

I am glad to introduce myself and my project with the late Prof.Dr. Lozanov - Suggestosystem AVICS to all my English speaking friends in response to their interest to the authentic Suggestopedia, developed by Dr. Lozanov & collaborators at the scientific Institute of Suggestology, respected once by UNESCO.

My professional devotion has been dedicated to Dr. Lozanov's original Suggestopedia. But in fact it is directed to its latest development “Suggestopedia with a System” – or Suggestosystem “AVICS”.

Who am I? Well…I was born in 1950 in Sofia/Bulgaria. I live in Vienna/Austria.

My earliest recalls refer to the magic of the Musical Theatre in Sofia, where my father worked and so he used to take me backstage to various musical performances and rehearsals …

Thus started my first fascinating artistic impressions and my love of music, theatre and Art in general.

I could play piano, danced ballet and took part in some musical performances, and I also had the chance to learn English fluently during my school-years at the First English Language College /Sofia.

Later I improved it and studied “English Philology and Pedagogy” at the Sofia State University. In 1974 I graduated successfully with a Master Degree (M.A.) in Linguistic and Pedagogy and got my Diploma of “Specialist in English Language and Teacher at Secondary Schools”, and also in Pedagogy.

Right after graduation, I started my professional career at the original Suggestology Research Institute in Sofia, headed by Prof . Dr. G. Lozanov where - after having passed a number of theoretical and practical exams - I became a Senior Research Suggestopedia teacher in English. During the following 20 years, I worked hard and I developed my theoretical, practical and pedagogical and psychological knowledge in Dr. lozanov's “Suggestopedia - Desuggestive Teaching“.

I wrote then my first English textbooks for Suggestopedia teaching under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Lozanov and they were all uccessfully experimented in the many specialized courses at the Institute.

Later in Vienna, I was honoured personally by him with the “Lozanov Certificate of Suggestopedia Specialist” as a certified Suggesto-teacher and Suggestopedia trainer.

I also was one of the constitutors of the “Lozanov International Teaching Association” - LITA.

Dr. Lozanov has always highly appreciated my contribution to the development of Suggestopedia as a Suggesto-system, which he later mentioned in some of his personal dedications to me.

I have worked long on the possibilities of finding some common points - and how to set a fruitful conformity - between the positive structural approaches of classical education and the innovative (though often contested…) Suggestopedic scientific notions and teaching techniques, and also the general universal “Laws” - Golden Proportion and Art, Love, Freedom, wholeness and interactivity, etc.

I was fascinated by the idea to put the humane ideas of Dr. Lozanov’s Suggestopedia into a clear and practical Suggesto-system - by integrating its artistic wholeness within the strict order in the traditional educative systems - i.e. “to orchestrate” the suggestopedic many-level-globality into a didactic complex.

Suggestosystem A.V.I.C.S. (Audio-Visual-Interactive-Communicative-Suggestive-system) was born.

It was first experimented and then put into practice at the “Inter-AVICS-Consult”/FTO TECHNIKA”, Sofia in the early nineties and later it was updated and further elaborated by me in Austria.

It represents a contemporary concept of “Suggestopedia ... but with a System”.

Suggestosystem “AVICS” has been approved by Dr. Lozanov as "orchestrated Suggestopedia".

It is the Suggesto-trilogy "Victory" to put in practice Dr. Lozanov’s ideas of Suggestopedia With a System (Suggestosystem AVICS) for Personality Development in the future

Many years of considerations, revisions and adaptations of my original Suggestopedia Textbooks followed until the present Suggesto-Trilogy in English for three levels - “Victory” - was created.

It includes three inter-related in an artistic Suggestopedical wholeness bi-lingual Textbooks:

“Victory” I. - In Wonderland" (First Level – Beginners)

“Victory” II. - In Hopeland" ( Second Level – Intermediate)

“Victory” III. - In Dreamland" (Third Level – Advanced - special English - Business & Art)

The Author’s Trilogy “Victory” suggests optimistic messages of human victory in real life.

All practical ideas about Suggestosystem AVICS in the Trilogy “Victory” are given in the “Victory-Manual for teachers” and during the author’s authentic Suggestopedia training.
